The British obsession with the weather is a long running national joke. During lockdown, as the confinement required to stop the spread of Covid 19 ground on, our relationship with the weather became more intense.

London enjoyed a stunning early summer. The hottest Spring on record. There was an intensity of sunlight. A dreaminess that felt unreal. It felt wrong to be enjoying the sunshine, while aware of the gravity of everything going on around us. But Londoners knew the best thing they could do was to stay at home.
